Everything You Need To Know For Saturday

IT’S FINALLY HERE! The Sooners are back in action and will take on Houston in the Texas Advocare Kickoff. We have got you covered with everything you need to know.

WHEN: Saturday, September 3rd

WHERE: NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas

TIME: 11:00 AM CST

Offensive Line. Jonathon Alvarez will be playing center alongside other newbies on the offensive line Cody Ford, and Alex Dalton. If they can dominate the trenches against Houston’s defensive line, that can really get the offense going.

I’m going with Kapri Doucet. Although Tay and Jordan Evans will start, expect Doucet to play quite a bit. Doucet is quick and athletic, and will need to help contain Greg Ward III.

Start fast. When OU starts fast, and gets on a roll, it is really hard to slow them down. The defensive line HAS to get pressure on Greg Ward and the OLB have to contain him. The Sooners cannot let Houston establish a run game with Duke Catalon. Turnovers and mistakes will kill us in this game that very well could be a shootout.

-Baker Mayfield should have a monster game. Versus ranked opponents, Houston gave up nearly 355 passing yards per game.

-Even though Houston’s run defense only gave up 108 YPG last year, I’d still expect big games from Perine and Mixon. Somewhere between 100-150 yards for Perine and 75-100 for Mixon.

-Houston’s young wide receivers will have trouble getting open against veteran CBs.

-Mark Andrews will have at least 1 touchdown.

-Joe Mixon is returning kickoffs, and that is not good for Houston b

-The over/under has been set at 68, and I would take the over. OU averaged 43.5 PPG while Houston averaged 40.4 last season.

Oklahoma 45 Houston 35

Houston will have OU on their heels early in the game, with Greg Ward’s legs and also their defensive line, but Baker Mayfield and the offense will be too much to handle down the stretch and Mike Stoops will make adjustments and contain Greg Ward.
